On Tuesday, Tiger Woods’ plane was spotted at the Augusta Regional Airport, just over 13 miles south of Augusta National Golf Club.

This, of course, sent the golf world into a complete frenzy as properly described by the twitter account No Laying Up:

Turns out Tiger was there for more than just a re-fuel or a Pimento Cheese sandwich.
Mark Steinberg, Woods’ agent at Excel Sports Management, confirmed in am email to The Associated Press that Tiger did in fact play a practice round at Augusta National, getting 18 in before hopping back in the jet and heading back to his home on Jupiter Island.
While this would be a strong indication that Woods will be making his return at the Masters, there has still yet to be any sort of confirmation from the 14 time major winner, or his camp, about whether or not he will tee it up at the seasons first major.
Woods has not played on the PGA Tour since withdrawing at Torrey Pines on February 5th after 11 holes because of what he called it, “the failure for his glutes to activate”. Since then, Tiger has missed all four stops on the Florida Swing (he usually plays The Honda, Doral, and Bay Hill).
While Woods could make his announcement some time in the next few days, he will not be required to. Unlike a regular PGA Tour event where a golfer needs to announce his commitment by 5pm the Friday before the start of the tournament, players with a Masters invite only have to register before they tee off in the opening round on April 9th. As a result, Tiger could wait all the way until his tee time that Thursday before making a decision.
Update: According to GolfWeek, Woods shot a 2-over 74 on Tuesday that featured five birdies and several bad chip shots. Woods returned to Augusta Friday morning after spending Thursday working at his home club, Medalist, with caddy Joe LaCava.
Also, for what it’s worth, Webb Simpson said he saw Woods at Augusta on Tuesday and said he didn’t see any signs of injury with Tiger.
